The 2023 vintage handed Horse Heaven Hills a gift disguised as a hardship: a small crop of ridiculously good fruit. A cool, foot-dragging spring pushed bud break a couple weeks late before a warm May snapped the vines to attention, and a mostly steady summer—punctuated by one short, sweaty heat spike in mid-August—gave way to a long, dry, gloriously patient fall. That extended hang time is where the magic hides: the Cabernet piled on deep, dark fruit while holding tight to its acid and backbone. We took that fruit and gave it room to grow up, resting it two years in medium-toast French oak (a quarter of it new) to layer in cedar, cocoa, and a whisper of graphite without smothering the fruit underneath. The result is a Cab built for the long haul—generous tonight, but genuinely happy to wait for you in the cellar for years.

This Cab is the gravitational center of any dinner table, bending the whole evening toward something a little more interesting.
